London-based music technology company Audoo has hired Steve Robbins as its Chief Technology Officer.

10th May 2021

Audoo, which recently closed a £5.2m series A funding round, including investment from ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus and Tileyard London, has developed technology to analyze and report public performance royalties.

The company claims that the real time data analyzed by its patented audio matching technology provides Performing Right Organisations “with the ability to deliver public performance royalties to their members with accuracy like never seen before in the music industry”.

Robbins leaves his previous role of Head of Software at audio equipment company Bowers & Wilkins.

As Chief Technology Officer, Robbins will oversee the delivery and rollout of Audoo’s ‘Audio Meter’, which tracks played music using real-time data to help Performance Rights Organisations digitise its processes, as well as the development and deployment of the company’s data platform’s.

At Bowers & Wilkins, Robbins was tasked with building out the software development team along with the design and set up of its cloud platform.

This platform allowed users access to multiple hi-resolution music services in the Bowers & Wilkins Music app.

Prior to Bowers & Wilkins, Robbins was CTO at SaaS start-up Audiogum, as well as CTO for the Nokia MixRadio music service, making Robbins “extremely well positioned to deliver the end to end technology that underpins Audoo’s mission of ‘revolutionising through accuracy’,” says Audoo.

“This is an important role for the company as we are currently rolling out Audio Meters around the world.”

Ryan Edwards, Audoo

Ryan Edwards, CEO and Founder of Audoo, said: “This is an important role for the company as we are currently rolling out Audio Meters around the world.

“Steve brings a wealth of experience and understands both the nuances of the music & technology industries with the level of accuracy Audoo is committed to delivering to all our partners”

“What Audoo has achieved in such a short space of time is really inspiring.”

Steve Robbins

Robbins said: “What Audoo has achieved in such a short space of time is really inspiring.

“As the company makes the move from start-up to scale-up, I couldn’t imagine a better time to join the business. The desire to deliver a greater level of data accuracy in the public performance space has never been more timely as the world starts to emerge from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Audoo is going to play a huge part in this and I’m excited to be making this happen for all artists”.
